Course title - Basic Spreadsheets 

Course description

This is an introduction to the Microsoft Office spreadsheet software called "Excel". We do use the Excel software, but the concepts and skills apply to most other spreadsheet packages as well. The topics we cover include spreadsheet layout and terminology, totals, charting, report generation, and how to enhance a worksheet and chart.

Course competencies

Condensed version:
1. Learn the basics of the worksheet- open, save and retrieve workbooks; enter and edit data.
2. Learn to use formulas, relative and absolute cell references, and functions.
3. Learn to use enhancements- fonts, freezing, text attributes, and the infamous "spell-check".
4. Learn to preview and print, plus other output options and formats.
5. Learn to perform "what-if" analysis on your spreadsheet.
6. Learn to create charts from your spreadsheet, and to create web pages from your spreadsheet.
7. Learn the basics about Excel macros.
8. Learn to use Excel's "table" (aka database) features.
